All Production Orders receive one emailed .jpeg image proof at no charge. We never go into production unless you've specifically approved the emailed proofs - this is our only way of knowing we correctly interpreted your instructions and pulled the correct artwork files for your order. Hence, it's critical that you check the images carefully - we can take no responsibility for errors that you didn't pick up in the proofing process.
Important note: Image proofs are for you to verify content only and should not be considered a reliable way to check colors. Computer screens display colors differently than printers do, and even different models of printer can produce variations in color.
Our primary preferred file type is .AI (Adobe Illustrator native format). We also accept .EPS .PDF and .PSD (Photoshop native) files. If you need help arriving at the correct format, contact us and we'll try to assist. We can often work with other file formats.
For best results, photoshop or image files should be created at 300 DPI resolution. Note - higher resolutions than 300 DPI do not produce better printed results, but lower resolutions can be disappointing when printed.
It's important to understand that Photoshop is designed for editing photos, not text. While it can be used for textual content, the printed output can be questionable due to the way Photoshop treats fonts (known as "rasterizing") which can pixelate the content noticeably. Conversely, Illustrator works in "vector" format and preserves the sharpness and quality of the fonts regardless of how much zooming is done. So, for commercial print purposes, whenever textual content is involved (like labels) Illustrator will almost always achieve a better result. It is certainly possible to use Photoshop for some elements of the design, but the results should be imported into Illustrator if possible - which is the best platform for overall design tasks.
For best results, all label files should be designed and submitted in CMYK mode (not RGB) – otherwise automatic conversion will occur when we send the files to press and significant color shifts can occur.
For screenprinting, vector files provided should be designed and submitted in PMS (Pantone Matching System) Solid Coated color library. Please ensure that your specified swatch ends with a "C" designation as this defines it as a Solid Coated swatch.
In the case you do not need a custom PMS swatch, we have a set of standard imprinting colors we offer without any additional cost:
Artwork Design Specifications
Your label's journey from digital file to printed masterpiece is not always straightforward. Follow the guidelines below for the easiest, fastest, and most cost-effective production of your product decorations.
Also please note that once your artwork files have successfully made it through the proofing process, any subsequent revisions will require us to repeat that process for any replacement files - and will incur revision charges for each file that we have to re-work. So it's critically important that you check your artwork for accuracy before submitting them to us.
Embedded Images |
Our primary preferred file type is .AI (Adobe Illustrator native format). We also accept .PDF, .PSD (Photoshop native), and EPS. If you need help arriving at the correct format, contact us and we'll try to assist. We can often work with other file formats too, but feel free to send us a sample file in advance to save time when you order. If using Photoshop to design your labels, please read the Special Note under the Resolution section on this page, which explains the challenges associated with textual content built in Photoshop. For best results, photoshop or image files should be created at 300 DPI resolution. Note - higher resolutions than 300 DPI do not produce better printed results, but lower resolutions can be disappointing when printed. Color |
For best results, all label files should be designed and submitted in CMYK mode (not RGB) – otherwise automatic conversion will occur when we send the files to press and significant color shifts can occur.
For screenprinting, vector files should also be designed and submitted in CMYK mode (not RGB), and if specifiying a specific color it would need to include the nearest Pantone Matching System swatch (PMS). If one is not provided, but a brand color is necessary, a few very close PMS swatches to your intended color will be provided for you to select from.
In the case you do not need a custom PMS swatch, we have a set of standard imprinting colors we offer without any additional cost:
For best results, please ensure art is as simple as possible. Artwork that is very complex, with thin lines, tight registration, and small fonts is better printed on a label, rather than screenprinted. All aspects of a design should have a minimum size gap of at least 1/32" (0.03125") between any design elements in order to prevent ink pooling. All small/thin design elements should have a minimum thickness of 0.02". Additionally, before expanding your text elements it should all be a minimum font size of 10 pt or 9 pt if in bold.
All artwork should be created using Imperial measurements (i.e. inches) and dimensions as laid out for each product in their respective template. You can find all our available templates here: Imprint/Labeling Templates
Bleeds should be included (1/8" or 0.125"on all sides) where appropriate. A bleed is where the background design or color carries beyond the edge of the label, a critical component to allow for minor shifts during the cutting process.
All Fonts should be outlined (or flattened) – please do not send live fonts with your files.
Please make sure all placed graphics and images are embedded and not included as a linked image.
Note - Embedded images should also be sized at 300 DPI (at intended image size when printed) – anything higher has no effect on the finished result and should be avoided to keep files to a manageable size.
Clear Space of at least 1/8" (0.125") should be allowed inside the finished size – no significant elements (type, images etc) should encroach into this space, except for background colors/patterns which should be extended to provide the "bleed" mentioned above.
Please make sure you provide the latest, most up to date design elements, barcodes, QR codes, and any other sensitive information you require on your final design. Review all aspects of your design are accurate to your final product expectations before submitting it to us.

Imprint Artwork Guidelines |
Please ensure imprint design is as not too complex and too tight a design. All aspects of a design should have a minimum size gap of at least 1/32" (0.03125") between any design elements in order to prevent ink bridging and connecting untintentionally. Inversely, all small/thin design elements should have a minimum thickness of 0.02". Additionally, before expanding your text elements it should all be a minimum font size of 10 pt or 9 pt if in bold. |
Imprint/Label Dimensions (Sizing) |
All artwork should be created using Imperial measurements (i.e. inches) and dimensions as laid out for each product in their respective template. You can find all our available templates here: Imprint/Labeling Templates |
